A: I worked my tail off making that prototype. I hope it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.

B: Don’t worry. It’s safely under lock and key at the main office.

A: 그 시제품을 만드느라 뼈 빠지게 일했어. 엉뚱한 사람 손에 들어가지 않았으면 좋겠다.

B: 걱정하지 마. 본사에 안전한 곳에 넣고 잠가두었어.

work one’s tail off: ‘매우 열심히 일하다’라는 뜻이다. 여기서 ‘tail’은 ‘엉덩이’를 의미한다. fall into the wrong hands: ‘적이나 원하지 않는 사람이 지배하다, 소요하다’라는 뜻이다. under lock and key: ‘안전한 곳에 잠가두다’라는 뜻이다.
