A: Did you hear the news that they arrested a group of brothel owners.

B: I guess the government is trying to crack down on prostitution.

A: Apparently they were sexually exploiting minors.

B: This is probably only the tip of the iceberg.

A: 매음굴 집단의 사장들이 체포당한 소식 들었어?

B: 내 생각에 정부는 성 매매를 엄중하게 단속하려고 노력 중이야.

A: 듣자 하니 그들이 미성년자들을 성적으로 착취했대.

B: 아마 이건 빙산의 일각일걸.

 

exploit는 동사로 사용될 때 ‘(부당하게) 이용하다’, ‘착취하다’, ‘활용하다’라는 사전적 의미를 가지며 명사형일 때 ‘위업’, ‘공적’이란 뜻으로 사용한다.
