A: Did you do your interview with the police chief?

B: Yeah, but I couldn’t get him to talk about the recent shooting.

A: Why not?

B: He said that he couldn’t comment on an ongoing investigation.

A: 경찰서장과 인터뷰했어?

B: 응, 그렇지만 최근의 총격에 대해서는 듣지 못했어.

A: 어째서?

B: 그는 진행 중인 조사에 대해선 말할 수 없다고 했어.

 

ongoing은 형용사로서 ‘계속 진행 중인’이란 사전적 의미를 가지고 있다. 유사한 표현으로는 continual, progressing, uninterrupted 등이 있다.
