A: Since I quit smoking I can’t get a good night’s sleep.

I toss and turn all night.

B: Maybe you should get something to take the edge off the withdrawal symptoms.

A: 담배를 끊은 후에 밤에 잠을 잘 못 자. 밤새 뒤척거려.

B: 금단 현상을 좀 줄이려면 뭘 좀 해야 할 것 같아.

 

toss and turn: 침대에서 편안한 잠자리를 찾기 위해 계속해서 쉴 새 없이 자세를 바꾼다는 뜻이다. take the edge off: 어떤 것, 특히 무언가 불쾌한 것으로부터 받는 영향을 줄인다는 뜻이다.
