A : The government official from our district was apprehended in a hotel room with an undercover prostitute.

B : Yes, but he is pleading not guilty. It will be interesting to see if he ends up in jail.

A : “자신의 지역구 소속인 한 공직자가 호텔방에서 비밀 매춘행위를 하다가 체포됐어.”

B : “그렇긴 한데, 그는 죄를 시인하지 않고 있어. 그 사람 결국 감옥에 간다면 재밌겠다.”

‘apprehend’는 어원적으로 take, grasp, acquire 무엇인가를 취한다는 뜻이다. to arrest someone; to understand something. 체포한다는 뜻이 있고, 이해한다는 뜻도 있다. 둘다 취한다는 뜻이다.
